- Improve
Enterprise Communication
- Streamline Transfers / Hand Offs
Awarix allows staff to effectively prioritize work as it relates to inpatient discharge or critical care step down through the delivery of real-time throughput information across the enterprise. Resource utilization is maximized and patient diversion hours are reduced which can dramatically increase revenue.
Hands-free
and Noise-free Communication Network
Awarix provides a comprehensive hands-free and noise-free communications network through the use of Patient Care Communication Boards that are placed throughout the hospital enterprise. The Patient Care Communication Boards display critical throughput information to all people involved in the care process: physicians, nurses, staff, patients, and families. The current bed-level status can make physicians and staff aware of when discharge activity is the priority. As the census changes, the bed-level status changes in real-time, making everyone in the enterprise aware of the diversion avoidance strategy in place. In addition, custom messages can be displayed on all of the Patient Care Communication Boards to suit each hospital’s specific needs. The Patient Care Communication Boards also communicate room status across the enterprise by changing the color of rooms on the boards as status changes occur.
Planned
Discharge Process Management
With Awarix, case managers can easily communicate with physicians and staff helping smooth patient flow by scheduling discharge times. All key parties are alerted without having to log into a workstation or carry cumbersome devices. In addition, Awarix tracks patient diversion hours for the hospital and individual units. This helps management document trends on capacity and make improvements in processes and procedures.
Critical
Care Step-Down Process Management
Critical care step-downs can also be planned and communicated on the Patient Care Communication Boards. Case managers can communicate to all clinical staff when patients no longer meet criteria for critical care by changing the room status color on the board and time stamping when they are ready for transfer. Trends can be easily spotted with physician to physician comparison of critical care hours past ready for transfer. The Awarix management reporting can help bring needed accountability to critical care resources.
Unit
to Unit Hand-Off Management
Hand-offs between ER, PACU, and ICU to Med/Surg must be seamless to reduce errors and wait times. A “Ready to Report” icon plus a page notify nurses when other units are ready to report. Once request times and response times are documented, programs like “no excuse reporting” can be implemented without taking decision making power away from nurses. Administration can spot trends with unit to unit comparison of response times.
